Learning Spanish and joining our yoga classes is a perfect way to balance your stay here in Montañita. Our yoga teacher Niqui gives classes early in the morning before Spanish class 6:30 - 7:45 and after class 17:00 - 18:30 as the sun sets. The classes are given on the roof of the Spanish school which has one of the best views over Montañita and the beach. Hatha yoga is the traditional form of yoga postures and breathing that refresh the body physically and mentally. Hatha yoga attempts to balance the mind and body via physical postures (Asanas), purification practices, controlled breathing, and the calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation. It also increases the body’s ability to manage stress. Yoga's combined focus on mindfulness, breathing and physical movements brings health benefits with regular participation. Some of the physical benefits of Hatha Yoga are stretching and toning of the muscles, joints and spine while directing blood and oxygen to the internal organs including the glands and nerves. Asanas teach poise, balance and strength. When practiced, they improve the body's physical health and clear the mind in preparation for meditation.
